The State of the Ponies

Published October 29, 2012 by kittenmorag

And, of course, I forgot to mention in the last post how my pony modding is going. The answer is slowly. I’m doing little bits and pieces of the projects I have going, but nothing worth writing an entire post about just yet.

Thus far, my active project list looks like this-

  • My Little Bess, and whoever she gets paired up with
  • Red Hat pony
  • Ashley Pony
  • Big Mac
  • Deadpool, a Christmas present for one of my sisters

I’ve also got several others that are open to be worked on, but they’re well on the back burner. The most prominent among these are the Pegadeptus Sororitas, or the Pegasisters of Battle. It’s kinda huge and complicated, but it’ll look epic once it’s done.

So yeah. There are my projects. I’m almost ready to post my first Bess post, and the next on Red Hat Pony, and I have a couple of little upkeep jobs to do for Big Mac before I start rehairing him. I’m not wanting for ponies to do, that much is pretty clear >.<

In which Morag protests that she only has a small collection (Please skip if you’re only here for the mods)

So, I’ve had a few requests from people, who would like to see my collection. I’m not going to lie, I’m very proud of it, so I don’t mind sharing. However, I would like to preface my showing off with the following disclaimer- My collection is big. It’s not massive, and while it may be somewhat bigger than the average fan’s collection, the amount of G1 and G3 ponies I have is actually quite miniscule. Also, there are more than a few ranges and accessory sets that I don’t have in my G4 collection, so while I have pretty much all of the Playful Ponies (being the general release size), I’m not collecting EVERY. SINGLE. THING.

Alright, so enough of the text, on with the ponies! Here is the the centerpiece of my collection, the Royal Wedding Castle.

I originally thought that I wouldn’t be buying one, as it takes up a lot of room, but it turns out that the multiple levels and segmented areas are really conducive to dynamic scene creation.

It’s a bit meta, but haters to the left

Here’s Nightmare Moon and Princess Luna. Princess Luna’s eyelashes have been drawn on, because I was clumsy. The crown she comes with is actually a translucent yellow, like the one on Star Swirl next to her, but if you colour it in with a blue Sharpie, it ends up really close to her original colour scheme. Unfortunately, it takes forever for the crown to dry, and I was impatient, resulting in big blue stains on her ears and head >.< But wait, it gets better. I used some Remove Zit and acetone to get the worst of it off, and then took out her eyelashes as I was going >.< So she has hers hand drawn, because I am a silly pony.

This is what I mean about dynamic scenes. This is the back end of the castle, where the ‘after party is kicking off.

I may or may not have been super excited when I found something that basically looked like a DJ deck >.>

Here are Vinyl Scratch (also known as DJ-PON3) and Shine Bright Pinkie Pie dropping some beats.

Here is Shine Bright Twilight Sparkle facing off with Trixie. It may not look like it-

– but Trixie’s about to enter into a whole world of hurt.

Here are Princess Celestia, Princess Cadance, and Shining Armour. I’m too lazy to fetch them out for proper photos right now, but I will one of these days >.>

And here’s Celestia with the Cutie Mark Crusaders and Star Dream…

… and these are the ones that wouldn’t fit up with the other castle due to space.

Wow, OK, what a picture dump. I’ve got one more, though, so please bear with me.

I keep the Mane 6 separate, in a little house of their own. I’ve recently had to rearrange my collection around a new bookcase, so I haven’t had the chance to set the house up again. I like to mix it up a little, so when I manage to sort it out, it will look different again.

So that’s my collection of G4 ponies. I’ll leave the G1 and G3 ponies for later, because they deserve a lot of love, too. Like I said, it looks a bit intense, but trust me, it’s really quite small, all things considered
